Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives

If there are two people who we at DirtyNeedles consider to be the forefathers of what we try to do on our radio show, it’s Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito.  That said, we are truly honored to be a part of this special event.

On Friday, November 27th, 2015 at the Plaza Theatre, the good people at 10@10 and The Hi-Fi Club are holding the exclusive Calgary screening of “Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives” a documentary about what is widely regarded as the greatest radio show in hip-hop history.

During the 1990s, Stretch and Bobbito introduced the world to an unsigned Nas, Biggie, Wu-Tang, and Big Pun, as well as an unknown Jay Z, Eminem, and the Fugees. The total record sales for all the artists that premiered on their show exceed 300 million. The late-night program had a cult following in the art/fashion world and prison population as well. All would loyally tune in for the offbeat humor just as much for the exclusive tunes. Stretch and Bobbito brought a unique audience together, and created a platform that changed music forever.

Immediately following the screening the DirtyNeedles posse will join the homie Beni Johnson from 10@10 to host a Q&A with Stretch and Bobbito themselves!  Things don’t end there!  After the Q&A the Set It Off crew will be hosting the official after party at the Hi-Fi Club!  This will surely be a great day in the history of Calgary’s hip-hop scene.
